Separate Raw Food from Cooked Food

What you should do?

  1. Do not mix raw food (meat, poultry, seafood) from ready-to-eat food or other foods consumed raw such as salad or cut fruits.
  2. Do not mix raw meat, fish and raw vegetables.
  3. Store food in appropriate covered containers to avoid contact between raw and ready to eat foods.
  4. Use separate equipment and utensils such as knives, cutting board for different food.

How to do it?

Follow color code on cutting board for different type of food

  • Grey/White – Bakery and diary product
  • Red – Raw meat
  • Green – Fruit & Vegetables
  • Blue – Fish & Seafood
  • Brown- Cooked food
  • Yellow- Raw chicken and poultry

Why do it?

Raw food, especially meat, poultry and seafood, and their juices may contain dangerous micro-organisms which may be transferred onto other foods during food preparation and storage.
